Does Sonakshi Sinha have a ‘chikni kamar’? (Watch Video)

Posted in : Gossips, Videos

The Sinha babe looks like a million bucks in Chammak challo chel chabili from Rowdy Rathore, especially when she twitches her eyebrows and bites her lips to seduce Akshay Kumar. But she falls short in the hotness department.

Does Sonakshi Sinha have a ‘chikni kamar’? (Watch Video)

Sonakshi Sinha seems to be constantly aware of papa Shatrughan Sinha’s watchful presence. If you have any doubts, watch the song from Rowdy Rathore, where she is supposed to have fun seducing Akshay Kumar. In the song, Chammak challo chel chabili, the babe wears a red sari a la Kareena Kapoor in Chammak challo from RA.One, with her palloo tucked to the side – revealing enough cleavage to get your eyes to pop. But she still doesn’t manage to up the hotness quotient.

Kareena set the standards quite high when she pulled off the RA.One number on the strength of her jhatkas and matkas and a non-size zero frame. Vidya Balan too managed seduce her audience with a well-rounded body as she did an Ooh la la number in The Dirty Picture. But can Sonakshi Sinha manage to pull off a dance number with her heavy frame? We had our doubts…now justified.

Choreographed by Saroj Khan, the moves and expressions in the song do make Sonakshi look pretty, but she is obviously uncomfortable when trying to dance even those really simple steps. Since she’s a tad bit too heavy to do vigorous dance movements, Saroj Khan has tried to make things easier for the actor by focusing on her face rather than her waistline.

Recently Sonakshi said, “Tastes differ from one person to the next, and while I don’t claim that it’s size zero, I know my waist is chikni.” Nobody expects Sonakshi to be size zero anyway, no! But methinks she ends up looking much older than she is, in her current size and shape. I also think that her hips make a ‘bigger’ and ‘sexier’ statement than her waist.

In spite of being less than sexy in this number, the Sinha girl does manage to impress with the traditional filmi thumkas, and we liked the way she uses her expressions and her pretty face to undo the damage done by her awkward movements. Reminds us of Tabu, when she tried her hand at a dance number called Rang De in Takshak. Guess Sonakshi will have to rely more on her acting skills to survive this glamorous industry, or else do a quick and intensive course on the art of Bollywood dance. Since she didn’t have much to prove in Dabangg, we’ll have to wait and see if she manages to impress the audience with Rowdy Rathore.

Posted in : Gossips

(added 1 days ago)

Actor Sonakshi Sinha is in awe of The Dirty Picture star, Vidya Balan. But as much as she loved the film, the 24-year-old believes she can’t pull off a similar role. “I think Vidya Balan is a fantastic actor. She is my favourite. The film has done really well. But, I don’t know if I would be able to do such a role. I have certain inhibitions. I don’t think I have the guts that Vidya has. It takes guts to do a film like that,” she said. The actor will now be seen in the upcoming film, Rowdy Rathore, in which she stars opposite actor Akshay Kumar.

I don’t have the guts that Vidya has: Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi made her debut in 2010 with the film Dabangg,  which also starred actor Salman Khan. When asked about her superstar co-stars, the actor, who was in the Capital to attend the asiaSpa India Awards 2011, said, “I consider myself lucky that I’m getting to work with people that I am working with. I’m doing a film with Ranveer (Singh), also one with Imran Khan.

It’s my second year in the industry. My second film is not out yet. I have time.” What about reports that Ranbir Kapoor refused a film with her? “I won’t react to that. I haven’t heard it with my own ears. I don’t believe everything I read in the papers,” she added.

The actor has always maintained that she is single, “My prototype is such that I’m not finding a guy only. He has to be taller than me and really handsome. He should preferably not be an actor as I know how hard it is keeping time commitments,” she concluded.

Sonakshi's cousin gets ready for Bollywood

Posted in : Gossips

(added 2 days ago)

Sonakshi's cousin gets ready for BollywoodAfter the Priyanka-Parineeti Chopra combo, now Sonakshi Sinha's cousin Bhavna Ruparel is all set to make her acting debut in the film industry. Sonakshi's and Bhavna's grandmothers were sisters.

Bhavna has already done films as a child actress (Na Tum Jaano Na Hum and Joggers Park), and so is well acquainted with the industry. Her first film as an adult will be Pritish Chakraborty's Chal Pichchur Banate Hai, and will release later this year. Bhavna has also signed a Telugu film, for which she will start shooting in November.

Before she decided to act in films, Bhavna worked in Public Relations, handling the publicity of celebrities.  She tells Sonil Dedhia how she shifted to acting, and of course, her relationship with her famous cousin.

Do you think comparisons with Sonakshi will be made?

Yes, comparisons are inevitable. She has beautiful features and I can't wait to watch Rowdy Rathore. At the same time, I am here to carve a niche for myself.

Has the media started giving you more importance because of the relationship?

Yes, there is a buzz about Sonakshi Sinha's cousin getting into films. Till the time it is positive attention and it is for the right reasons, I don't mind it.

What do you think of Sonakshi as an actress?

She has the ability to act. It is God's gift to her. Her screen presence is amazing.

I hope some day I will be able to match her talent. She was born to be an actress. Just recently I was watching Dabangg on television and I couldn't take my eyes off her.

Do you get the time to catch up with each other?

When we meet we do sit and chat. But at this point of time, she doesn't have the time to chat or catch up as she is doing a lot of films and is running from pillar to post. I guess she doesn't even have the time to breathe (Laughs).

Sonakshi Sinha: ROWDY RATHORE is an advance birthday present

Says an excited Sonakshi Sinha, "It makes me feel special considering the film comes a day before my birthday. It's also the first big movie after the IPL. I am looking at it as an advance birthday present."

Adds Shikha Kapur, senior VP (marketing) of UTV Motion Pictures, "Our movie comes just a day before her birthday and we hope it will do well and make it a great day for Sonakshi."The actress has also managed to impress director Prabhu Deva so much so that he ended up writing a meatier role for her in the film.

All praise for the actress director Prabhu Deva says, "I feel that she is easily 25 films old. You just have to read out the dialogues to her once and she is ready to give the shot. Same holds true for her dances as well as she hardly needs much time to pick them up. Moreover she is quite punctual too. These are some of the basic traits required for a successful leading lady and Sonakshi has it all."The director further adds, "Sonakshi is not just a commercial heroine, she is star material."

I am loving the jokes about my forehead: Sonakshi Sinha

Posted in : Gossips, Movies

(added 6 days ago)

Move over Angelina Jolie’s right leg, Sonakshi Sinha’s forehead is the new trend on Twitter. The 24-year-old actor’s forehead trended for over 24 hours on the microblogging site on Wednesday, with people making fun of her “broad forehead”. The actor, however, is far from offended. In fact, she is amused. “I was laughing. We had gone for the match to Wankhede stadium on Wednesday. On our way back my friends and I were reading those tweets and laughing our guts out.

I am loving the jokes about my forehead: Sonakshi Sinha

They are funny, intelligent tweets. I don’t know why some people are saying they are not in good taste. It’s fine, it’s humour. If taken in the right spirit, they are quite funny. Luckily for them, I have a good sense of humour,” says the actor who was in the Capital on Thursday. And a sense of humour, she surely has. Soon after the jokes started, Sona tweeted, “Sonakshi Sinha’s forehead is mighty pleased ;) gnite funny people! (sic)”

The actor says that she is looking for the light side in her prospective partner too. “He has to have a great sense of humour one to match my father’s (actor Shatrughan Sinha) and my own, which I’ve inherited from him,” she says.

Sonakshi Sinha on Fashion & Sex Appeal

Posted in : Gossips, Modeling

(added 6 days ago)

Define fashion.
It’s something that’s always changing! Everyone defines it differently. It’s best to stick to a basic idea of what’s in and what’s not.

Sonakshi Sinha on Fashion & Sex Appeal

What body type are you? What ensemble suits you best?
I have a typical Indian body! I’m tall and broad with a fair combination of flaws and curves. That would dub me as ‘pear-shaped’, which I’ve worked very hard for. Earlier I was ‘apple shaped’. I look best in Indian wear — sarees and Anarkalis. In Western attire, maxis clinched at the waist and A-line dresses suit me the most.

What cuts and colours suit you?
Short dresses that are A-line or fitted, empire cuts and princess cuts flatter my figure. They take the natural shape of your curves. Broad round necks, V-necks and even one-shouldered garments look good on me. Keeping the earthy tone of my skin in mind, warmer colours like reds, oranges and yellows look good on me. So do monochromes.

Who are your favourite Indian and international designers?
My favourite Indian designers are Dev and Nil, who apart from being good friends, understand my sensibilities and body structure. Even Shantanu and Nikhil are great for the femininity they bring to their outfits. Some of their drapes are just made for me. I also appreciate the simplicity of outfits created by Narendra Kumar Ahmed and Varun Bahl and that too without compromising on class. On the international scene, I like Louis Vuitton for their great cuts and innovative designs. Valentino has the correct blend of femininity and minimalism and Elie Saab is pure glamour.

What makes a woman ‘sexy’ — clothes, size or attitude?
Clothes? Never! It’s as easy to look sexy in a saree as it is in a bikini. Size? Hell no! Queen Latifah and Adele are sexy just the way they are. It’s definitely a combination of the right attitude and a kickass personality. Sexy is a state of mind, nothing more, nothing less.

Which is the one fashion faux pas you haven’t forgiven yourself for?
(Laughs) There have been a few. But I forgive myself because people forget as soon as you shine the next moment. It’s okay to make mistakes. That’s how you learn.

What has been your biggest buy in terms of clothes?
Diane von Furstenberg (DvF) and Alexander McQueen. Normally I’m not fussy about designers or brands. I wear what looks good on me, it could be a DvF or a designer friend who’s starting out fresh.

What’s the big deal about fair skin?
I wouldn’t know. Never thought of fair skin as being an advantage. Don’t think Rihanna or Beyonce do either.

Would you endorse a fairness cream?
No, I wouldn’t. There have been various endorsement offers but I’ve refused them all. Even when I signed on for a bleach product, I made sure they did not project it as a fairness product.
We have never seen you experiment with make-up…

Make-up can never make you look beautiful. It can only help enhance your beauty. I do try out different things with my make-up in terms of the base, blush and eye make-up, depending on what I’m wearing. I don’t understand what you mean by experiment. Why would I move away from something that works for me? Experiment to me would be wearing clown make-up.

What would you be more comfortable in — a swimsuit or a bikini?
I’m more comfortable in a swimsuit as people go crazy with their cellphone cameras when they spot you in a bikini. I don’t want my pictures splashed on the Internet.

Imitation or real jewellery?
I prefer real jewellery! It’s less harsh on the skin and a class apart. But on shoots it’s more convenient to wear imitation jewellery. There’s always the risk of it being misplaced. Wearing something heavy for so long is also impractical.

Who’s the most fashionable Indian actor?
Hrithik Roshan. He’s debonair; with his looks he can carry off anything.

Who’s the most fashionable actress in the industry?
Deepika Padukone. She has a great sense of personal style. With a fabulous body like hers, whatever she wears, formal or informal, looks good.

How long do you take to get ready before an event?
About 45 minutes. I’m very impatient when it comes to dressing up. I can’t spend longer than that in front of the mirror!

Your take on augmentation…
To each his own. Augmentation is tricky because in most cases it beomes obvious. So if you’re going to deny it, don’t get it done.
